At the end of their term of 2 years L’Oreal had to choose just one stylist per region, to teach for them in their academies on a more permanent basis. Laura has won herself that place! She starts in February working all over the country (including at our wonderful L’Oreal Leeds studio, meaning she can do clients for CRC in her lunch break! We couldn’t be prouder of Laura but are not the slightest bit surprised given her skills and her calm and patient personality which is so important in a teacher. Well done girl!

Stepping into her shoes will be one of our newer recruits Laura Finch! Laura joined the CRC City team when we opened two years ago, and whilst being an amazing hairdresser, a L’Oreal colour specialist and a teacher for L’Oreal, she also has previous management experience from a large salon chain in London. We are very proud to announce that from Tuesday 13^th December Laura will become both Training Manager across both salons and Assistant Manager at City. We are so excited about the year ahead and the prospect of watching Joe and Laura help to make CRC City an even bigger success in 2012.

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing is our industry’s most respected organisation. We found out a few weeks ago that we were nominated for the title of Fellowship Salon Group of the Year and up against some of the biggest company names in British Hairdressing.

On Monday 5^th December Karen and Charles attended the Fellowship Luncheon at the Dorchester in London only to find out that we had won this hugely coveted and prestigious award! Our humble little group of 2 salons had beaten most of the bigger boys just to be nominated in this category but to find out that we have won is an absolute unexpected honour. Thanks to our loyal client base at both Chapel Allerton and City salons for your continued support and helping us to realise our dream evolving from a single super salon to  a successful salon group.

Cutting Room Creative salon in Leeds transformed their dreams into reality by winning the greatly sort after 2011 Mizani Afro Catwalk Award during the prestigious L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final.

On Monday 4th July over 1000 of the hairdressing industries most high profile and successful figures gathered together inside the dazzling Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London to witness the victorious conclusion to Cutting Room Creatives three month journey. The audience gave the team a standing ovation as ever cool celebrity presenter Sara Cox & acclaimed afro hairdresser Errol Douglas MBE presented the team their esteemed award.

Winning this award for the salon is a dream come true says Joe and Carly, the Manager and Asst Manager of the city centre salon. We are delighted to win this National Award and bring the Trophy up North! As the 2011 brand ambassadors we are looking forward to an exciting year with Mizani, but it will be really great to be able to offer the amazing Mizani Afro service the CRC way to clients in the north of England.

Over 1200 photographic entries pour into the L’Oréal Colour Trophy each year and just 429 salon teams make it through to the final events. Back in May a powerhouse team of six renowned salons went head to head inside the L’Oréal International Academy, London during an intense live final that exploded creative talent in every direction.

Each team created their look on a model of African / Caribbean descent that encapsulated their knowledge of Aut/Win 2011/12 catwalk trends infused beautiful make-up and fashion led styling with technically excellent colour and precision cutting skills. The highly respected judging panel was made up of Alexi Rosso, Anne Veck,
Sandra Webb and Errol Douglas MBE who were astounded by the beautiful model look created by the winning team at Cutting Room Creative team.

“Working with Afro/ Caribbean hair is challenging and rewarding. Hair of this type needs very special care and attention and it is important to match the tones of the hair colour to skin type. Condition, shine and texture can never be compromised. Looking at the Autumn/Winter 2011/12 season we took our inspiration from the London/Paris/New York fashion weeks and designed a look to beautifully compliment the model’s features, skin tone, and bone structure to complete a total look” says Joe and Carly.

Getting this just right is one of the strengths at CRC.

The recognition of this award is global and opportunities that come along with it make it one of the most sort after title in the hair industry. To win means that the team will pick up an exciting prize package that includes a cover and photo shoot in a leading magazine alongside numerous PR all designed to help to boost the salons profile. Judge of the Mizani Errol Douglas MBE has been a judge with the Mizani Afro Catwalk Award since the launch in 2009 and believes that the competition is getting stronger every year. He comments;
