One of the biggest events in the hairdressing calendar is the Alternative Hair Show, a huge show which fills the Royal Albert Hall, no less, with hairdressers from all over the world flocking to see the best of British Creative Hairdressing. The event raises tens of thousands of pounds for leukaemia research. Every year there is a competition held in conjunction with the show called the Visionary Award. Charles and Karen won this award in 2003. This year once again they were finalists in an amazing show that was dedicated to Vidal Sassoon. This year Vidal is eighty years old and the whole show was dedicated to him with the brief for Charles and Karen and the other Visionary Award winners to re create one of the amazing looks that Vidal is famous for. The highlight of the night was a ten minute standing ovation from the 5000 strong audience from all over the world for the great man himself. The highlight for Charles and Karen was meeting their industry icon Vidal Sassoon.
